Variety Positioning
-
Now firmly established as the UK’s leading winter wheat variety. Consistently high yielding in Agrii trials over the past three years (103%, treated, 93% untreated).
-
A Group 2 bread with ukp for export that has also attracted interest as a feed wheat, due to its high yields, outstanding Septoria resistance and bold grain (78.1 kg/hl).
-
Suitable for all regions of the UK except areas of high sterility risk. Consistent across soil types with good performance on lighter soils.
-
A fast-developing variety best drilled from the last week of September through to the end of December, but it can be drilled to the end of January where necessary.
-
Acceptable second wheat performance and average competitiveness against grassweeds.
-
With tall straw, care is needed particularly on more fertile soils as stem stiffness (7.6) (6.0) could be better and a robust PGR programme should be used. It is early to mature (-1) (-1).
-
Excellent disease resistance with a very strong rating for Septoria tritici (7.4) (6.4), yellow rust (7.4) (6.4) and brown rust (6.4) (5.7). The juvenile stage of yellow rust may be seen before GS32. It is very susceptible to eyespot (3.6) so it will need attention in a second wheat situation.
-
Not resistant to orange wheat blossom midge.
