Variety Positioning

• KWS Cranium’s performance has dropped back over the past couple of years (94% treated, 82% untreated) and it has delivered a rather average specific weight 75.8 kg/hl.

• Suitable across all soil types including lighter soils and acceptable as a second wheat.

• It has found a niche as a later-drilled wheat but is should still be drilled before the end of December.

• Tall straw (90 cm) but good straw strength both treated (8) (7), and untreated (8) (8).

• Poor grass weed competitiveness and later maturity (+3) (+5).

• Mixed disease scores with mildew (5), yellow rust (8.7) (8.3), brown rust (4.4) (3.6) and Septoria tritici (5.8) (5.9). Moderate resistance to fusarium ear blight (6.7).

• Resistant to orange wheat blossom midge.
