Variety Positioning

• The breeder KWS has entered the UK hybrid 6-row barley market with a respectable variety, Inys. 

• Inys sits on the AHDB Recommended List a a candidate variety and it was tested by Agrii last year.

• It was the highest yielding in hybrid in Agrii trials at 102% (treated) and 86% (untreated) and looks suited to all regions of the UK.

• Higher yields and straw strength was evident in the western trials
  compared with SY Kingsbarn. The specific weight is similar to that of Belfry at just under 70 (69.6 kg/hl). 

• Lodging and brackling score to-date are impressive at 0% and 7% respectively. At Stow Longa, Inys has performed on par with other 6-row hybrids in the black-grass competition trials. 

• Good disease resistance against Rhynchosporium (6) [7], net blotch (6) (5) mildew (7) (7) and brown rust (6) (5). Together these gave the best overall disease resilience of the 6-row varieties on Agrii trials last year.

• Resistant to barley yellow mosaic virus.
