Hurler
Variety Positioning
Hurler was a new introduction to the UK Recommended List in 2023.
It has the highest yields on the list (107% treated, 94% untreated).
Grain quality is on the lower end (66.2 kg/hl) and 1 kg/hl lower than that of Laureate but its screenings are in line with other feed types
(1.5% through 2.25 mm and 4.4% through 2.5 mm screens).
It has given consistent high yields across all regions and soil types and is straightforward to manage.
It has shown consistent yield performance in Agrii trials over the past
two years (104% treated, 88% untreated).
Relatively short (65 cm) with very stiff straw (7), outstanding brackling resistance (9) and medium maturity (+1).
Hurler shows excellent mildew resistance (9) but average on brown rust (4) and Rhynchosporium (5) and its resistance to net blotch is still under evaluation.
