Trials Manager

We are looking to employ a Trials Manager for our Throws Farm Site, located in Dunmow.

We are seeking a Trials Manager to lead our industry-leading agricultural trials, which are aimed at evaluating new crop varieties, farming practices, and technologies to advance sustainable agriculture.

As a Trials Manager at Agrii, you will oversee the planning, execution, and analysis of trials across diverse agricultural systems, focusing on improving yields, pest management, soil health, and overall productivity. Collaborating with R&D, Agronomy, and Farms Teams, you will deliver actionable insights for the Agrii business while managing the Trials Team and ensuring adherence to industry standards and best practices.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Plan, design, and execute trials with Technical Managers, ensuring ORETO compliance and improving data collection methods.
  • Manage trial sites with growers, agronomists, and contractors, ensuring high-quality, timely data collection and analysis using ARM and statistical tools.
  • Oversee large projects (e.g., Stow Longa) and contribute to open day events by coordinating setups and presenting findings.
  • Maintain and calibrate trials equipment, ensuring compliance with ORETO standards.
  • Work with the Technology Manager to integrate innovative tools like drones and robotics into R&D processes.
  • Lead the Trials Team, overseeing daily operations, ensuring trial quality, and managing recruitment, training, and performance.
  • Foster team development and engagement through training opportunities and proactive management.
  • Ensure safe working practices, maintain site safety records, and uphold compliance with health and safety protocols.
  • Contribute to SOP development and promote a positive safety culture.

Skills, Qualifications, and Experience required:

  • Agricultural qualification (or equivalent experience).
  • PA1, PA6, PA11 certifications; Forklift, Telehandler, and ATV licenses; BASIS and FACTS qualified.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and flexibility to meet seasonal demands.
