Tell us about your role, what do you do?
I provide management support to the fruit team of 14 individuals, I am also a jobbing agronomist with a portfolio of customers in Herefordshire, East Anglia and Kent.
How did you get started in your role?
As a Horticulturalist, I’ve always had an interest in the propagation of plants. This lead to a job at a local tree nursery from School, from there I went on to do an OND at Hadlow College in Kent.
What’s been the highlight of your career with Agrii so far?
Being promoted to Fruit Team manager.
What do you love most about your job?
The variation of the day to day role and the people – colleagues, customers and partners.
Any advice for people looking to get started in the industry?
First you must have a passion for some part of it, be it growing, pest or disease morphology, problem solving and helping people. The industry is challenging, but rewarding so you need something to drive you.
What is the biggest challenge you face in your role and why?
Consolidation of our customers. They are getting increasingly larger and require ever more from us however, they are not always in a position to pay for it!
